Forecast DiscussionWe're Talkin' Weather Here

Last Updated: 05.20.13 09:13 AM

It's crazy to think a week ago we were talking about a late season freeze as conditions over the next several days are going to be remiscent of summer.  In general, the weather map for the entire country finally looks like what it should for this time of year.

High pressure in the western Atlantic has us in a warm and very moist airmass.  Southerly wind flow is pumping in unseasonably warm temperatures and humidity levels are noticeably higher.  At the same time, weak upper level support is in place which is adding to instability in the atmosphere.  What's all of this mean?  Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to persist today.

Tuesday and Wednesday will see similiar conditions as today.  The only difference being that precip potential diminishes slightly each day.

A cold front currently producing severe weather in the Plains moves through the High Country on Thursday.  Expect continued showers and thunderstorms.

The front will be off to our east on Friday but an upper level disturbance keeps the precip chances going.  Temperatures are going to be noticeably cooler and highs will be bumped down several degrees from what we see this week.

High pressure over the eastern US this weekend is going to make for an awesome few days!  Near normal temperatures and a good bit of sunshine...oh yeah!
